I am so excited for this month’s singer: Carly Clark is someone we are not used to in Europe. She’s a singer songwriter from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. She defines herself has a bluesy/pop artist, a cross-between Norah Jones and Colbie Caillat.
Her first release was the EP In This Moment (2015). It’s a young and fresh product, something perfect if you want to get into a light American blues. My favourite song is Down by the river (this is a very cute live version).
Carly listens to John Mayer, Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, and you can hear their influences in her songs. Folk, blues is her favourite genre but she loves also other types of music, like r’n’b and pop.

Finally, some weeks ago she released the EP Destinations, in which you can hear her musical growth. It’s so wonderful to follow an artist throughout her path into music, because you can see the inevitable transformation, all the influences. My favourite song from this album is Stay. I asked her why she chose the name Destinations and about all the “travel names” she gave to her songs. She answered: “I titled the EP Destinations on purpose. We are all on journeys with different destinations we would like to get to. Whether that be a getting that dream job, starting a family, traveling etc. I feel like people will be able to relate to these songs. I know for me, I have certain goals (or destinations) I would like my music to take me and also just life. I am constantly pursuing and reevaluating how I can get better and what are the steps I need to take to achieve those goals.”
Well, she’s right, we are all on a constant journey because we have to find the right path to get into.
