It’s movie marathon day: Oscar to a foreign movie

We’re getting close to the Oscar Night, so it is a duty of marathon girl to set up a couple of Oscar movie marathon. The first is made with some foreign language Oscar Winner movies I really love. This award was born in 1947 and every year honours a remarkable film from a country abroad. I chose 3 European films to celebrate the beauty of our continent.

  • La nuit americàine (Day for Night, Effetto Notte), 1973, directed by François Truffaut, with Jacqueline Bisset and Jean-Pierre Léaud. One of the most beautiful movie in the history of Cinema. Truffaut is a master and there’s not a movie directed by him that I don’t love. This one’s a comedy and chronicles the production of Je Vous Présente Paméla, another Truffaut movie.
  • Mediterraneo, 1991, directed by Gabriele Salvatores, with Diego Abatantuono and Claudio Bigagli. I saw this movie a thousand time and I’m never bored. It is an italian comedy set during the Second World War and regards a group of italian soldier on a Greek island.
  • Todo sobre mi madre (All about my mother, Tutto su mia madre), 1999, directed by Pedro Almodòvar, with Cecilia Roth and Marisa Peredes. Almodòvar is a master in social problems movies. This is a drama about AIDS, homosexuality, transsexualism, faith, and existentialism. Still very actual after almost 18 years.

There are other Oscar winner that you prefer?
