It’s movie marathon day: ice cream!

July is ice cream month! It’s a necessity with this hot weather and I’m a huge fan of the classical handcrafted tastes: hazelnut, pistachio (“If pistachio is great, the ice cream maker is great”, that’s my granny rule), chocolate and cream. But I also love some of those packaged ice creams and ice cream bars.

So I thought it would be great to create a Movie Marathon dedicated to this refreshing Italian invention. It was difficult to choose only three films with great ice cream scenes:

  • Down by Law, 1986, directed by Jim Jarmusch, with Tom Waits, John Lurie and Roberto Benigni. It is a black and white independent film and it centers on the arrest, incarceration, and escape from jail of three men. I chose this movie only because of the “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream” scene, don’t judge me. I think this is one of the best scene ever.
  • Ice Cream Man, 1995, directed by Norman Apstein (a porn movies director), with Clint Howard. This is a horror comedy, but I would describe it as one of the most trashy and absurd movie I’ve ever seen. The ice cream in this film has a particular new taste.
  • Hot Fuzz, 2007,  directed by Edgar Wright, with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. This action comedy is the second movie of the Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy. I chose this one because I think it’s better than Shaun of the dead and The World’s end. It’s a funny, humorous, action movie. I love these actors. And I love Cornettos.

What do you think about this movies? Would you choose something else?
